A Meow of Despair"It's the oddest thing. All the cats in the village are disappearing. We're not sure exactly what is going on, but some of the locals are a might upset about it. They've lost pets they've had for years. It's strange, you know, for all of them to just up and disappear at once . . ."The Story It all started when the mayor's granddaughter's cat was kidnapped by a priest of Bast. It turns out that this particular cat was shown to the priest in a vision, marking it as blessed. So, they kidnapped it and it is now living the life of luxury in a nearby, hidden temple. Now, the real problem begins when the mayor hires a group of adventurers to find the lost cat. They follow the trail of the kidnapper from the mayor's house to a halfling village, where they loose the tracks. After several hours of fruitless inquiring, they decide "To heck with it!" and begin luring all the cats in the area to a certain spot with fishy kitty goodies. They then proceed to slay the cats and move the bodies to a spot far enough away that the smell won't be a problem for awhile. Then, a priest in the group casts "Locate Animal" to find the next cat. This cat, if the wrong one, is slain along with the others. Their logic is that eventually, they'll find the right cat through the process of elimination. Granted, this is not what one would call a Grand Adventure, but it could be an interesting and amusing sideline. |
