Picking up the small, copper sphere, you cradle it in the palm of your hand and watch the sunlight reflect off of it's surface. It appears to be nothing more than a 2 inch diameter ball of copper. Fairly worthless on any market. As you continue to study it, you realize that you can feel an underlying tingle vibrating through your palm.
This is a very useful little item. The main drawback to it is that it must be absorbed into the body for it to work and, sometimes, it hurts. The likelyhood that you will absorb the ball upon touching it and the degree of hurt depends on what class you are. The percentage chance of absorption breaks down as follows:
- Warriors: 75% chance of absorption upon contact with no ill affects.
- Priests: 45% chance of absorption upon contact with 2D8 shock damage.
- Rogues: 30% chance of absorption upon contact with 2D6 shock damage.
- Wizards: 20% chance of absorption upon contact with 2D4 shock damage.
Once the sphere has been absorbed into the body, that's it; You're stuck with it. Nothing short of death or vivisection will remove it from you. The good news is that you are now completely immune to all electrical attacks. When someone attempts to shock you, the current will simply pass harmlessly through you and into whatever (or whomever) you happen to be touching. For exapmle, let's say Fred the Sorcerer decides to attack you with a shocking grasp spell. About the time that Fred clasps your shoulder in what should be a very painful experience, you lean over to give your pal that healing potion he so desperately needs. The electricity from the shocking grasp spell passes harmlessly through you to your hand, which is holding you friend's shoulder. Your friend, Bob, is fried. Quite a fun little item if used properly and with imagination. |
