An Invasion from the East"It seems here of late that there have been more than the usual amount of monsters coming close to the town. With the mage just over the rise there, it isn't very often that we see this kind of trouble. But here lately, it seems like every time you turn around there is a kobold in the basement or an otyugh in the back yard. Things that usually avoid civilization as if it were the plague itself have been sauntering up to the bar asking for refills! You know, you are not the first adventurer to ask about this. A young man was in here earlier, very interested in all the ruckus. He was headed to the east, last time I heard. I bet you could catch up with him if you hurried."The Story This is really quite a simple little scenario with a lot of space for the DM to have fun. A young warrior named Aaron has found a very nice magical item with a very big drawback. On his last adventure, he acquired a simple, silver ring with an engraving of deer's antlers on it. Not being a mage, he just put it on without a second thought. The big problem is that the ring acts as a monster magnet, attracting all monsters within a one mile radius. So, as long as poor Aaron remains in town and continues to wear the ring, the town will be plaqued by creatures of all kinds as they unerringly seek out the poor, unwitting young man.
