Pocket Parchment

You pick up what appears to be a perfectly ordinary piece of parchment. Turning it over, you see that, yes, it is flat. And, yes, it is a light, cream color. And, yes, it looks like it has been well used though it is now blank. You begin to toss it aside, disregarding it as just the usual clutter found in any mage’s quarters. The elven woman steps forward and says, "Ah, I see you have discovered one of my most useful toys! Here, let me explain . . ."

This originally belonged to a spy-mage who lived in Zhentil Keep long before it fell into the ruins it is today. His primary goal was simply to keep an eye on the comings and goings of the Black Network . . some say he worked for the Harpers, some say he worked for less noble employers. Who knows? At any rate, that was many years ago and a moot point.

To aid in his spying, he developed this parchment. He could write whatever message he desired upon the blank sheet, fold it and put it in his pocket. At this point, the parchment would be transported to the pocket of whomever the message was intended for. Thus, should he be captured, the message would already be gone as long as he could get it into a pocket before the Zhentarim captured him. Another advantage to this item is that as soon as the message is read, the ink disappears from the page. Now, you have no evidence of what was written and it is ready to be used again. Of course, this means that anyone using it should have a good memory. There is no looking back on the sheet should you forget a detail!
