Silver Sphere of Ana-Goran

Strangely drawn to the sphere, you walk over and pick it up to more closely examine it. Turning it over in your hand, you can feel an almost electric shock run up your arm before you can set it back on the shelf.

The Silver Sphere is a boon to anyone who is fortunate enough to come across one. Of course, they are extremely rare, but do occur every once in awhile. What is so special about it, you might ask. Well, if you survive the absorption process, you never have to worry about being electrocuted again. Oh, yes, there is pain involved in acquiring one of these little gems, and it the severity of it depends upon your class.

Rogues: 50% chance of absorption upon contact with no ill effects. Warriors: 45% chance of absorption upon contact with 1D12 shock damage. Priests: 30% chance of absorption upon contact with 1D6 shock damage. Wizards: 15% chance of absorption upon contact with 2D4 shock damage.

I'm sure you felt the shock when you picked it up. That was the sphere testing you. If you were lucky, it would have been absorbed into your body and nothing short of death or vivisection would've removed it. The advantage to having a Silver Sphere is that any electrical spell cast upon you is now redirected to the attacker, leaving you completely unharmed. It's sort of like holding up a mirror to a beam of light. Of course, the unfortunate wizard who attempted to eradicate you via lightning bolt will be extremely surprised to find it lighting his skivvies instead of yours.

I know it seems strange that wizards have a hard time absorbing this sphere, but there's something about the fact that it deflects magic that makes it harder for magic-users to use it.
